LaVern Barbadillo
LaVern “Tootsie” Bernadette Barbadillo, 71, of Naalehu, died June 29, 2020, at her residence. Born Aug. 17, 1948 in Pahala, she was a homemaker and a caregiver.

She is survived by sons, Joseph (Georgette) Kaluau of Kapaau, Chad (Marissa) Dela Cruz of Nevada, Shane Enayoda Dela Cruz of Mountain View, and Collin Ray Barbadillo, of Naalehu; mother, Marianne Manuel of Naalehu; brother, Bob Manuel of Kalopa; sisters, Marlene Haleamau of Kalaoa, Carleen (Tim) Montgomery of Maryland; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Claude Carvalho Sr.
Claude Carvalho Sr.; 55 of Pahoa, died March 18, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 24, 1964, he worked for Green Point Nursery in Hilo.

He is survived by companion, Verlann Gonsalves of Honokaa; son, Claude Carvalho Jr. of Puna; daughter, Tiffany (Joseph) Cuskey of Puna; brothers, Val (Elaine) Sigmon of Nevada, John Mersberg of Kona, Frank Carvalho Jr. of Puna, Floyd Carvalho Sr. and Glenn Carvalho, both of Puna; sister, Valma Carvalho of Puna; five grandchidren; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Francis Smith Sr.
Francis Errol Smith Sr., 83, of Hilo, died May 17, 2020, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii Fire Department chief.

He is survived by sons, Robert (Alita-Ray) Cookman of Waimea, Francis Smith Jr. of Oahu, and Zachary (Jessie) Smith of Hilo; daughters, LaurieAnne Smith and Joanna Smith, both of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Fujisaka
Joseph Fujisaka, 82, of Kailua-Kona, died May 8, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Kahaluu, he was a laundry worker for Young Laundry, a bellman and maintenance man at the former Hyatt Regency Hotel and a maintenance man for CW Co.
Private services will be held.
He is survived by brother, Mitchell (Joanne) Fujisaka of Kailua-Kona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
